Background
The project involved creating a bespoke visual identity for a wedding. My clients, a diverse couple, requested that their cultural heritage be reflected throughout the wedding stationary, resulting in a design that is personal, meaningful, and unique to their celebration.
The symbol 囍 (translation: double happiness), commonly used in Chinese weddings,, is the central feature of the visual identity.
A burgundy palette replaces the traditional bright red, blending culture significance with a refined Western aesthetic. The logo incorporates a knot intertwined with the 囍, referencing both the ‘red thread of fate’ and the Western phrase ‘tie the knot’, symbolising an unbreakable bond.
The pattern is inspired by traditional Chinese wooden windows reflect the idea of unity, with interwoven forms representing support and long-term commitment.
